Kenya as a country stands at a very precarious position, with our forest cover depleting by the day. It has become increasingly important for various stakeholders to join hands in correcting the existing paradigm. The success can only be attained through focusing on the leaders of tomorrow to champion this course, and set a sustainable structure for tree seedling production in the country. Focus needs to be channeled towards afforesting of ASAL regions and water towers, for this dream to be achieved. This is why Meforest has placed its focus on causing the paradigm shift that will help the country restore atleast 10% of our forest cover by 2022.
MeForest® has taken up the challenge to save our ailing country, and formulated the much required end to end full circle solution that will ensure:
- We sustainably manage our forests,
- Combat desertification,
- Halt and reverse land degradation, and biodiversity loss; in the country
- To protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems
- Seedlings Production Management to fuel the much needed restoration of our forest cover.
- Promote and motivate the general public into a culture of growing trees both on private and public spaces.
- Promote use of alternative green fuels like briquette.
- Influence the national and county government administrative policies that will cater for the caretakers of the planted trees, and availability of water especially for public space.
- Public education for the public to ensure people are educated on the right species of trees to plant for a particular area/soil to ensure the highest survival rate.
